Title of message: Transformed Families

(Proverbs 24:3) By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established How can I have a Godly family? 1. Make Jesus the center of my home?
(2 Corinthians 5:14) (Message) Christ's love has moved me to such extremes. His love has the first and last word in everything we do.
2. Make my home a place of protection?
(Proverbs 14:26) (GW) In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and his children will have a place of refuge.
We will trust each other. Our home will always be a place of physical and emotional safety.
Unhealthy homes ignore pain; healthy homes bring it to the center where Jesus is.
3. Change the climate of my home?
(Psalm 126:2) Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”

We will have fun and laugh together, enjoy meals together, read together, share our faith together, and minister together.

The Causes of Spiritual Death: 1. Unrelenting trial and temptation.
(Psalm 143:3-6) “The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in darkness like those long dead. So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed.”
2. Attacks from others.
(Psalm 109:3) “With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause.”
3. Personal tragedy.
(Psalm 61:2) “When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to a rock that is higher than I.”
4. Guilt and shame.
(Psalm 38:4-5) (NLT) My guilt overwhelms me—it is a burden too heavy to bear. My wounds fester and stink because of my foolish sins.
(John 5:39) (MSG) You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you'll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before you, and you aren't willing to receive from me the life you say you want.

How do you live again?
1. Respond to the invitation.
(Isaiah 55:1-2 NLT) “Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food.”
2. Renew your relationship with God.
(Isaiah 55:3 NLT) “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.”
3. Repent of everything that is in the way.
(Isaiah 55:6-7 NLT) “Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.” |

(Proverbs 17:22) “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. (Acts 27:13) “When a gentle south wind began to blow, they thought they had obtained what they wanted; so they weighed anchor and sailed along the shore of Crete.”
(Acts 27:14-15) “Before very long, a wind of hurricane force, called the "northeaster," swept down from the island. The ship was caught by the storm and could not head into the wind; so we gave way to it and were driven along…” (Acts 27:18-19) “We took such a violent battering from the storm that the next day they began to throw the cargo overboard. Storm Warnings:
1. Storms are inevitable.
2. Storms are unpredictable.
3. Storms are impartial.
4. Storms are temporary. (Hebrews 10:35-37) “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay.”

How Do I Laugh Again?
1. Worry about nothing.
(Philippians 4:6) (NLT) “Don’t worry about anything…

(Matthew 6:34) “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
2. Pray about everything. (Philippians 4:6) “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

Any dream that doesn’t honor God is a nightmare.

Then we’ll see what comes of his dreams.”

Signs of a Dream Come True: 1. The dream starts off bad.
2. The dream takes a wrong turn.

Is there anything in your life that is dead, or is in the process of death?
(John 10:10) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Signs of Emotional Death:
1. Exhaustion
2. Emptiness
3. Enslavement

(John 11:1-3) Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair. So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.”
(John 11:7) Then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.”

But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

What are you doing to let them know where He can be found?
(2 Corinthians 5:14-15) “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”

I Have Decided:
1. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD. 2. To Live (Romans 6:3-4) Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

The Cause Distractions: 1. Unchecked Priorities
Unchecked priorities can lead us to a surviving mentality and keep us from a thriving reality.
(Ephesians 5:15-16) “Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
(Luke 21:34) “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.”
2. Unreasonable Faith
(Hebrews 11:1) (NLT) Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
(Luke 16:10) (NLT) If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones.
3. Underestimating God’s Power
MIRACLE GAP
(John 5:1-7) (NLT) Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days. Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda, with five covered porches. Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches. One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”
(John 5:8-9) (NLT) Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! (2 Corinthians 12:9) But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
How to Eliminate the Distractions:
1. See
(Isaiah 43:19) See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
2. Move
(Psalm 37:23) The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
3. Trust
(Psalm 37:3) (NLT) Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
(Proverbs 3:5-6) (NLT) Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
